The Club has received a very generous donation from Daisy of a framed artwork of “Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red”. It depicts the public art installation created in the moat of the Tower of London, between July and November 2014. Conceived by Paul Cummins, it commemorated the centenary of the outbreak of World War I and consisted of 888,246 ceramic red poppies, each intended to represent one British or Colonial serviceman killed in the War.
The poppy that is part of the artwork is a Paul Cummins original, and one of the 888,246 poppies made for the installation at the Tower of London.
We also wish to thank Daisy’s daughter who helped create such a wonderful artwork for the Club.
It is on display at the Club, so why not visit the Club and appreciate the poignancy of it for yourself.
